COCO500 SoMa

One of my friends recommended COCO 500 http://www.coco500.com/ so I decided to give it a go. COCO500 is a small restaurant South of Market in San Francisco. It is the creation of Loretta Keller who has had great success in several other restaurants in San Francisco. The restaurant has a great look and feel very small but lots of large windows make it feel very roomy. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating and made sure that I was immediately feeling at home. This restaurant is on the 1st floor of a wood building from 1906 it has a feeling of warmth. Let's get to the food. We started with the Battered Fried Green Beans, Lamb Meatballs and The COCOMole Tacos. So far so good the beans were a great surprise and the Tacos were built on a tortilla chip with some pork, some spice and a dollop of Guacamole. Now to the Meatball, in my never ending quest to find the best Meatball these ranked right up there with the top. They were Lamb with a hint of Mint and Pecorino Chile's in a Tomato sauce. All 3 were great and delicious!!
Both of us had the Papparedelle with a Beef Ragu in a Tomato base it was fresh and good but it did not stand up to the starter creations. My friend and I enjoyed the scenery and invented a new term "Crackle" gotta ask me to find out what it means. Overall I would recommend this restaurant it had all the right ingredients.
