Grass Skirt Grill Haleiwa

Grass Skirt Grill
Six months ago I was watching the Food Network and Rachel Ray was doing a tour of Oahu.  I had remembered one of the places was in Haleiwa so we looked it up and hunted it out.  Haleiwa is a town on the North Shore that has quite a lot of history in recent decades it is surf city.  The restaurant that Rachel Ray pointed us to was the Grass Skirt Grill.  This is bot a local's eatery as well as a magnet for the tourists.

Portobello Sandwich with Garlic, Teriyaki Cheese Fries

The decor is island eclectic, the service is order and wait for it to be delivered and the food is definitely 2 extremes healthy to downright fattening.  We took the middle of the ground and added a sinful plate of Teriyaki Garlic Cheese Fries.  JoAnn ordered the Portobello Mushroom Sandwich which was grilled veggies with chili garlic sauce and I had the Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich.
Both were well cooked juicy and delicious.  My first memories of Teriyaki were from Oahu when I was a little kid and I used to order them at the Outrigger Canoe Club.  The Teriyaki here brought back great memories.  The Portobello Mushroom sandwich is very juicy so remember to hold it away from yourself because it will explode.
