Jeez that extra year took a toll on me |
On our last night in Honolulu we went to
Orchids at the Halekulani Hotel, this was another of the food Channels recommendations. I should have known better that even though Richard Chamberlain can wear a Sarong there I could not wear shorts. But do not panic the ladies up front got me some long pants, well the the first pair i tried on were more like culottes but after the good laugh from all we got the length right and were sat for dinner on their outdoor patio. Orchids was a great place to wrap up the Hawaiian vacation the ambiance is second to none, the service is exceptional and the food was very good. JoAnn started out with the Sea Scallops on a bed of creamed corn and I had the Slow Roasted Veal which was Veal Carpacio style with arugula and macadamia nuts with a drizzle of caper oil. For Dinner I had the lobster to treat myself and JoAnn had the Seared Monchong with a Tomato Thai Basil Coconut Molee Sauce which is basically an Indian inspired Spicy Fish Sauce. To top it off we shared their Signature Coconut Cake which could be the lightest cake I have ever had. To sum it off it is a good restaurant for those romantic evenings in Waikiki.
