One of the nights we had a late reservation at
Miss Lily's on Houston Street. This is a small simple authentic Jamaican style diner is the collaboration of Paul Salmon and Binn and Genc Jakupi. Salmon owns and runs the award-winning Rockhouse Hotel in Jamaica as well as serving as one of the founding partners of Joe’s Pub in Manhattan; the Jakupi brothers have been an integral part of New York City’s most exclusive nightclubs including Bungalow 8, 1Oak, and The Box. Rounding out the powerhouse team is designer Serge Becker, who has put his aesthetic stamp on many cool downtown venues including La Esquina, Lure Fishbar and Cafe Select. Enough with the commercial yes that was cut and paste. The food is delicious. We started out with Jerk Grilled Corn with toasted coconut shreds and Fluke Ceviche with Scotch bonnet Chile's and Avocado. The corn was out of this world it had that great toasted coconut taste with spiced butter. It is one of those tastes you do not want to leave your tongue. The Ceviche had a hot bite from the Scotch Bonnet and the Avocado to cool the tongue.
Our main entree was the Jerk Chicken and Grilled Ribs. the Chicken was very moist and was cooked to perfection with the Jerk spices. The Pork ribs were tender and had a great amount of heat. Very good. I recommend going here. BTW it is very reasonable and it is a locals place.
