Bon Ton Cafe

Rum Bread Pudding with Pecan Ice Cream
Crawfish Etouffee
You cannot go to New Orleans with eating Crawfish Etouffee and we were guided by our friend Diane to go to Bon Ton Cafe a NOLA mainstay.  This is not a fancy place and on this night we were the only ones not wearing the University of Louisiana Raging Rebels gear.  Our server Shalai was very helpful once I told her I did not like Onions her face became worried that the Etouffee which is smothered in cooked onions would not be my favorite.  She immediately ran to the kitchen and got me a sample to make sure it would meet my needs.  Back to the eating we ordered a gumbo and some deep fried Crawfish as our starter.  I could have done without the Fried Crawfish since their is not much art in doing it.  We both ordered the Crawfish Etouffee and I have to tell you it was delicious,  Etouffee is not spicy it is creamy and savory it sits on your tongue for a long time reminding you how good your meal was.  Desert was in the books since we did not have lunch I wanted to try the Bread Pudding and the Pecan Ice Cream, Shalai suggested a Rum Bread Pudding A La Mode with Pecan Ice Cream.  this was real Rum Bred Pudding it was almost like the best desert cocktail ever.  This was a great recomendation great food at a great price!!
