New York Italian

I love going to NYC and on this trip I decided to go to the Lombardi Play starring Dan Lauria and Judith Light produced by none other than the NFL. Prior to the play I asked the concierge at the Eventi Hotel http:/www.eventihotel.com where I could get a good Italian dinner near the theatre Victoria suggested that I try Maria Pia http://www.mariapianyc.com . Unfortunately I did not time my trip properly so I only had 50 minutes to sit down, order and eat. Maria Pia is a warm small restaurant that is not overtly screaming Italian when you go in. I started with Eggplant Parmigiana and finished with the Garga Vitello. The eggplant was piping hot so it was not something I was going to eat quickly without scorching the roof of my mouth it was cooked perfectly and the tomato sauce was not to acidic. The Garganelli al Sugo di Vitello is a home made spiral pasta with a ragu of Veal topped with Basil. The pasta was perfectly al dente and very tasty. Overall it was a good pick and it was $30 out the door. Not much else to right about because I had to dine and dash.
