The Original Roasted Crab in San Francisco
This week I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to go to an culinary original in San Francisco. Thanh Long has been in the same location since 1971 and is the predecessor of Crustacean. This is a simple restaurant that unfortunately is not in the most convenient location if you are staying in Downtown SF. Located in the Sunset District at 4101 Judah it is a long cab drive or adventuresome metro ride. The specialties are Roasted Garlic Crab and Garlic Noodles. We decided to go family style and try Green Lip Mussels, Shrimp wrapped in Pancetta, Dungeness Crab Puffs, Traditional Vietnamese Salad, Steamed Sea Bass with Ginger and Orange Infusion, Roasted Garlic Crab and Garlic Noodles. Looking back that was a lot of food. Overall the food was great especially the Sea Bass and Crab. Service was good and fast we had a great window seat so we could get to know the neighborhood. I would highly recommend this restaurant for bragging rights or if you just want convenience you can go to it's sister restaurant Crustacean on Polk Street.
