No sign just an Address |
Welcome to NOLA home of John Besh, Emeril Lagasse, Paul Prodhomme and many more great chefs. New Orleans unlike other cities in the US is a cultural experience, you could almost be in another part of the world because of the unique experience.
I arrived just in time for dinner where we went to
Gautreau named after Madam Gautreau. Gautreau's is in the Saint Charles area on a small residential side street. There is no sign just and address. We got there a little early but were immediately seated. The dining room is small and cozy and it was fun to be there during the Holiday Season because of the decorations. The Chef Sue Zemanick is a very accomplished chef and has won several awards including "Rising Star Chef" by James Beard and has also been on Top Chef Masters..... so the bottom line is that she can cook well.
We started the evening out with their special Gulf Oysters with Spinach, Parmesan and Garlic her take on Oyster Rockefeller. The Oyster were fresh, moist and delicious.

Chicken it was delicious |
Our Entrees were much more impressive. JoAnn had the Grouper and I had the Chicken which our server felt was their specialty. JoAnn's Grouper had a great sear on top and as you can see from the picture glistened. It came with a parsnip puree fresh lump crab meat. My Chicken was baked even though it could have doubled as pan fried. It had garlic mash and home gravy with a serving of flash fried shitakes. The chicken was moist and tender.

Bread Pudding A La Mode |
To top it off we decided to go whole hog and order their specialty Bread Pudding A La Mode. What a way to finish a great meal.
