Staying with the spirit of why Top Chef Trail was created we go to
Scarpetta whose Owner Chef is
Scott Conant who is a frequent guest on Chopped. Scarpetta is located on the edge of the Meat Packing area, it is a modern fine dining restaurant with a plethora of wait staff. My wife described it as a machine not very personal so tonight we are going for the food. The menus is very tight so it is easy to figure out what you are ordering even though I think I could have ordered better. This is the type of restaurant that encourages you to order a Primi, Pasta, Entree and Dessert and if you did that you would have to be rolled out of there. Here is the secret avoid gorging yourself with their delicious bread because it features a Italian Submarine Sandwich (
Stromboli) with delicious meats and cheese

Fritto Misto |
|
Delicious Black Cod |
We started with Crispy Fritto Misto which is Fried Calamari, Vegetables, Herbs, Artichokes and Lemon. The Fritto Misto was well done and had some interesting additions like the Fried Herbs and Lemon probably would not order that again there are so many other good things you could start with lie any one of the Pastas.

Halibut Edit the Sauce |
We both went with Seafood for our Entrees I had the Fennel Dusted Black Cod, which was an excellent choice. The fish was cooked to perfection and it was accompanied by Concentrated Tomatoes,
Baccala Montecato and Black Olive Oil. Black Cod has become my new favorite Fish when cooked to perfection it is unbeatable. My wife had the Herb Crusted Halibut with Bacon and Heirloom Tomato Sauce,
Pattypan Squash, Baby Zucchini. This fish was cooked perfectly but as you will see in the picture they could have edited the sauce.
Bottom line we ordered wrong even though the food was good, my recommendation for next time would be to order Tapas style and try some of the great Pastas.
